Day 31 - Song Number 1 - Happy New Year and Happy New You There are millions upon millions who love this song. This song was remade and resung and remixed, but the original remains the standard. Its played at parties and funerals. Its featured in movies and commercials. When I first heard this song as a very young boy, it became and has remained my favorite song...never dethroned. The reason it is number one in my heart has changed though. When I first heard this song, it was the most amazing love song ever written, because it described a selfless and even eternal kind of love. When I would hear this song, it would transcend human love to me...a love that I felt existed, but I never, ever experienced. When I gave my heart and life to Jesus in 1995, I began to read the bible and one day I came across this scripture: Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. AND BE SURE OF THIS: I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, EVEN TO THE END OF THE AGE. (Matthew 28:18-20). When I read that very last verse...verse 20 of Matthew 28, the words of AS flooded through my mind. Check this verse out: Just as time knew to move on since the beginning And the seasons know exactly when to change Just as kindness knows no shame Know through all your joy and pain That Ill be loving you always As today I know Im living but tomorrow Could make me the past but that I mustnt fear For Ill know deep in my mind The love of me Ive left behind Cause Ill be loving you always Wow... I have heard many Pastors and theology professors say that God wrote the bible by inspiring and moving the hearts, and pens, of men...I feel the same happened with this song. I also learned that God does not only live in the verses of Gospel music. We try to box Him in that way, but thats our shortcoming and shortsightedness. This song AS prepared me as a young boy to meet Christ, and I believe that with my whole heart because when I would hear this particular song, I could never categorize it with other love songs. No, this was some other kind of love. I must remind you that the words of our Christ, I am with you always... was spoken into the hearts of the disciples AFTER the Resurrection. Only Gods love is eternal because God IS love and love COMES FROM God. I am so glad that I know this love in my life. I can hear Jesus singing through Stevie sayin: Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky--Loving you Until the ocean covers every mountain high--Loving you Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea--Loving you Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream--Be loving you Until the day is night and night becomes the day--Loving you Until the trees and seas up, up and fly away--Loving you Until the day that 8x8x8x8 is 4--Loving you Until the day that is the day that are no more--Loving you Until the day the earth starts turning right to left--Be loving you Until the earth just for the sun denies itself--Loving you Until dear Mother Nature says her work is through--Loving you Until the day that you are Me and I am you-- Now aint that loving you? youtu.be/KWhMyOs0pCQ
