Day +4: This kid is amazing and in great spirits still. His ANC is at 900 ( or. 9), and is dropping, so when it gets below 500 (.5) and eventually to 0, he will feel the not so fun side effects of neutropenia until his stem cells engraft and his counts recover. I suspect this will happen in the next couple days. I thought we would have seen it by now, but hey, I will take any day that he is feeling good. One of the night nurses got McKay some supplies to make his own pinata...so he and Daddy have been working on that last night and today. I was able to visit them today, and it just made my heart happy to see him looking and feeling so good still!
