Day #4 of my new job in Erie! It was a much different flow than its been all week for me in the office. Today was my orientation at one of the hospitals at which I will be doing surgeries and delivering babies. It was lots of walking, talking, and meetings! More meetings than Im use to in one day. Medical staff mtgs, human resource mtgs, same day surgery mtgs, OR mtgs, L&D mtgs, NICU mtg.....(you feel my day?). Out of all the meetings I had today, there was one that impacted me the most! In fact- it was my very first meeting of the day! That meeting was with the acting head of the hospital! It was not his position that impressed me--it was what he said that impressed me! He started the meeting off letting me know that HE wanted to KNOW ME! He was sincere in his desire to learn about me!. On multiple occasions, he offered his assistance and his support regarding my medical passions and desires. He was attentive and kind. Often smiling throughout the entire meeting. His warmth was comforting and provided the ultimate environment for me to be myself. The fourth word of that childhood speech was being manifested that moment and I was experiencing it! The word was spoken boldly and it was clear....GENTLEMEN. What is a gentlemen? Do we really know? The Victorians believed it was any man that was born within a specific class (of a noble birth). It was not necessarily dependent upon how he acted. (victorianweb.org/history/Gentleman.html). The Newmans Gentleman was defined by his character rather than his class. He was kind, pleasant, patient, forbearing, never mean.. (his/~z/gentleman.html). I will leave it to you to decide how you will define a gentlemen, but I believe that a gentleman is defined by his character and behavior. GENTLEMEN- as a woman, I want to take the time to tell you that I recognize the tremendous burdens and pressures of life you often silently bear. GENTLEMEN...I respect you AND I honor you! GENTLEMEN...thank you for supporting the women in your lives (mothers, sisters, spouses, daughters, etc). GENTLEMEN... I believe in you and your ability to lead your family to greatness! GENTLEMEN...thank you for your forbearance towards the women in your lives. I know that we, ladies, are not always the easiest to live with at times. GENTLEMEN...thank you for supporting the passions and the dreams of the women in your lives! GENTLEMEN...forgive us for not always recognizing your strength and criticizing your attempts. GENTLEMEN...I need you to see the greatness in yourself, because we (the women in your lives) do! As a wife I say to all the married GENTLEMEN..Thank you for loving us unconditionally! To MY GENTLEMAN (Greg)...I say thank you for loving me into the woman I have become. GENTLEMEN...as your sister I say ...thank God for your presence, protection, and place in our lives and in the earth! Todays Aha (Do Over) Moment: Men recognize that you are a gentleman by nature of who your Father is (spiritually). In other words, you are a noble man by birth because you are a child of God. If you are not walking in the character of a gentleman, make a decision to take your place and walk in the gentleman character that you were destined to become. Ladies - learn to respect, build up, and love the gentlemen in your lives. Be the help meet God has created and destined us to be. Use your words to speak life into your GENTLEMEN! Stay tuned for more tomorrow. Please share this post with the gentlemen in your life.
