Day 4 of the Artists Challenge Ooops 1 day late..just got back in town:))) My next 3 paintings are of performing artists in music, theater, and dance. The wish has been one of my favorites as the model in this painting is Paulie, an actress and model from New York who also models for a good friend of mine, Dan Abbott from Asbury Park, NJ...master yoga teacher and brilliant math instructor now painting as well:)) He may just be my next model:)) 1- The painting is called The Wish and was inspired again about my emotions using a model to express the feeling of light and hope from the powers that be. I was going through a very hard decision when I thought of this painting. The pose is my body expression and the light in the painting is th light streaming in through my window of my studio on the top floor of my house. It overlooks Sandy Hook beach which was devastated by Sandy two years before in 2011. Wishing for light, hope, and change in my own life was my inspiration. It has won allot of acclaim and awards and I am so grateful for that as it changed my life:) 2- One of best things that happened to me this year was to paint Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Lloyd Mr Personality Price which is now part of the permanent collection of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum. Wow..sooo grateful for that 2 weeks before Christmas...my favorite holiday:)) I am the first fine artist to have a painting hang in their museum in Cleveland, Ohio. I met Mr Price a couple of years ago and just loved his persona and spirit and asked him if I could paint his portrait. I am so grateful for that. He liked my work so much he asked me to shoot head shots and full body photos of him for his September show. This was a full page ad in the New York Herald as well as shooting video and photos at his show in The Cutting Room in NY courtesy of City Lights Recording Studio. 3- Mystery is of a very well known belly dancer of celebrities and has done parties for Sting, who I painted about 10 years ago. I originally wanted a dramatic movement of belly dance but the model LOVES to pose and told me she does glamorous belly dance....so I captured her persona of what she is in reality and she was quite happy. The lighting is a 2 light source of warm and cool...like a woman...hot and cold:)) On this 4th day, I would like to nominate a painter that I exhibited with at the Principle Gallery in Charleston for WPW. She is fantastic...Rachel Mosley. And I would also like to nominate Casey Baugh who is an incredible painter and teacher. I was in Williamsburg for a week doing one of his workshops to loosen up. AMAZING!!!! Humble, incredibly giving and so very talented. He is one of my favorite painters today. Casey, I hope to see you accept the challenge...u r the best dude!!!!! I know Im breaking rules here...but I also want to nominate a painter in my own town that I went to school with back in SVA days. We also studied with Nelson Shanks together back in 2000 at the Art Students League... Scott Nickerson. Beautiful paintings!!!!
