Day 41 - It was a busy day starting off with labs at 7:30am, visit the chemo doctors at 8:00am, rushed back to the Lodge to give him his 9am tube feed and medications, 10:30am had appointment with Lung Transplant Team at Childrens Hospital, then rush back to the Cancer Center for his chemo treatment at 11:45am. After all the preliminary IV fluids and preventive medications, it took about three hours for his chemo treatment. Happy to report no ill side effects, things went well. Tomorrow marks another milestone in this fight against cancer. He will get his first radiation treatment and hopefully without any of the bad side effects. The medical team have been trying to prepare him for what might happen and some of the bad side effects that he might experience after radiation treatments like: hard to swallow, skin on neck getting red, skin hard to stretch, pain and nausea, but Daniel being himself accepts all the news with a smile on his face. We are thankful for his strong spirit and all the countless blessings that we see day. Living in the Lodge we are meeting people fighting their own battles and everyone shares their journeys. Some are lung transplant patients, some bone marrow patients, some cancer patients but everyone stands in awe when they hear all that Daniel has conquered and what he is fighting now. 10:12pm - Just want to assure everyone that we are OK and not being affected by the rioting in the streets of Ferguson. That city is about eight miles north west of us near the airport. Just heard that they have shut down I-44 at Grand which is fairly close to us but dont see anything in our immediate area. We are indoors and plan on staying here, no plans on going anywhere other than the hospital which is walking distance from us. Hope and pray for this city to heal and get past this.
