Day 46, in Morocco. You could say I was naive. But really, I didnt know Morocco was this popular. I had this image about Morocco, as the ultimate arabic cultural destination. I mean I knew Morocco was way beyond other arabic countries in terms of development and tourism, but I never imagined it to be this much european. To me, Morocco seems even more european than Turkey. I arrived in Marrakech today, and though I knew it is the most popular destination in Morocco, I never imagined to see this many tourists in one area. In the past 40+ days on the road, Ive only been to countries and places where I was usually one of few if not only one traveller there. But now to be here where literally thousands of tourists come pouring down from every direction was little bit overwhelming and felt kinda weird at the same time. i feel Marrakech is charming in many ways, but it is very much concentrated on tourism only. So to experience authentic Moroccan life and photograph it - it wont be easy, it seems. i realise that I will have to approach photographing this country almost as how I would do it in european cities. But I will try as much as I can since I have one more day here before I head out. Hopefully good things will happen. So until then, from Morocco - good night!
