Day 5 still waiting .... Psalms 27:14 - Wait on the LORD: be - TopicsExpress

Day 5 still waiting .... Psalms 27:14 - Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him ... Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Waiting ... Not something we really like to do these days. We want instant gratification in everything. We want what want and we want it now! While working the front counter at the health department I noticed that we had a regular client who always came in and opened with the same line (wait for the line within the story). So I was standing at the counter with my co-worker when I saw the client coming up to the door. I turned to my co-worker and said, before she tells you her name of her need she is going to say, How long is this going to take?. My co-worker looked at me like I was stupid. The young lady approached the counter and my co-worker says, can I help you. To the young lady smiled and said, How long is this going to take? I simply looked straight ahead and smiled a smirky little grin that said I told you so. I later explained that I had waited on her several times and she always asked THE question. We want instant answers. We want instant gratification. We want what we want and we want it now! Wait upon the Lord ... but we dont like to wait. During the time that we wait upon the Lord, we will learn things about Him and about ourselves. I found an illustration about patiently waiting upon the Lord from a lady named Sue Monk Kidd. she tells the story of asking a monk how he could quietly sit under a tree in perfect reverence and tranquility. Here was his answer to question ... He broke into a wonderful grin. Well, theres the problem right there, young lady. Youve bought into the cultural myth that when youre waiting youre doing nothing. Then he took his hands and placed them on my shoulders, peered straight into my eyes and said, I hope youll hear what Im about to tell you. I hope youll hear it all the way down to your toes. When youre waiting, youre not doing nothing. Youre doing the most important something there is. Youre allowing your soul to grow up. If you cant be still and wait, you cant become what God created you to be.” Wait patiently upon the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him ... There is a second aspect to waiting that needs to be addressed. While we see the word waiting as a term to describe a position of idleness or doing nothing until we get what we want or need, the term waiting can also indicated the work that a server does at a restaurant. We call them waiters and waitresses, right? They wait upon us ... they serve us ... they meet our needs. Therefore, to wait can mean to serve. As we wait upon the Lord, we serve Him. We worship Him and praise Him. We sing to Him. We also wait upon Him as we serve the Body of Christ. If you do to the least of these you have done it unto me. So while I am waiting upon an answer I wait upon Him as I serve Him. Please dont take this next comment as bragging in any way but simply a comment as to what happened last night. I am already to receive my healing. And I know there are times when we spend longer times in concentrated prayer seeking His face. Last night was one of those times. I dont know what time I actually fell asleep, but it was well after midnight. During that time my conversation changed from asking to praising. I was led to scriptures and songs that just kept me praising God! Wait upon the Lord and He will strengthen the inner man .... and He will also strengthen the out man! Wait upon the Lord...
