Day 5, thought Id get an update in before I take a painkiller, so it may make sense. Pain! Is the word of the moment. Every movement hurts like Ive never experienced before. I have never been a user of over the counter pain killers, I just dont get any improvements from them, you may as well take smarties. But I now realise exactly what they are doing in hospital when they refer to pain management, the cocktail - and it was a substantial mix - that I was on was keeping local pain isolated, overall pain limited, temperatures down etc etc, these guys are good. So now Im just on codeine, the overall effect is not the same, and Im trying to do too much. Hence feeling like a wall has run into me. I discovered walking up stairs needs 2 feet on each step and I need to use the hand rails, heck even cleaning my teeth hurt! But if I dont walk round this cough will get worse and that REALLY hurts. As for the codeine itself, wow, what strange shapes and dreams! Looks like some of the cartoons I used to watch as kids. I now have an appointment with the surgeon, on 13 March to see what happens next, but whatever it is, I realise this is going to be a very long painful journey.
