Day 530 Faslane to Dumbarton. After a great nights sleep I was awake at 05:45 and wrote my blog before getting up and joining Scott and the family in the house. I didnt have to pack this morning as Scott lives in Dumbarton and the plan was to walk back to here from Faslane. I didnt have breakfast as I was now in a populated area and knew there would be places along my route to get something to eat. After a couple of mugs of real coffee Scott gave me a lift back to the front gate of Faslane RNAB where I had left off from. It started out as a wet miserable morning and after an hour it started to clear up. A car pulled up and the first chap that came to say hello was Simon who walked a short way with me and then Jim (who Id met a couple of days ago) joined me with his wife Kerry which turned out she is from a neighbouring village where Im from. When I reached Rhu I met Lisa a serving Sailor with the RN and her Son Ethan, she had parked her car at Helensburgh and had walked down to meet me and to walk with me. I stopped at the shop in Rhu for a sausage sandwich and Lisa and Ethan walked with me. A short while later a lady called Barbara stopped to say hello and told me she loved reading my blogs. Then a couple called Kev ex RN and his wife Sharon stopped to say hello and wish me luck. By now I was starting to feel very overwhelmed and worried that I wasnt going to get very far today. When I reached Helensburgh with Lisa and Ethan we stopped at Costa coffee for a brew and a chat before saying goodbye and I cracked on. I was on a road all the way till I reached Ardoch where I could join a coast path which followed the shore line all the way round and over the bridge into Dumbarton. I have needed new pants for several weeks now but stopped at the ASDA in town to buy some. It has been months since I saw a supermarket that was this big, Infact it was bigger than some of the villages I had walked through. It was then that I realised I really had broke the back of this walk and could start loosing weight from my berghan as I wouldnt need to carry as much rations any more. After I got what I wanted I continued along the coast and to Dumbarton Castle because Scott told me it was well worth the visit because of the views from the top. The many steps up was worth the visit especially now as the sun had decided to make a rare appearance. After spending some time up there and getting plenty of picturegraphs I continued along the shoreline and back to Scotts house. I initially walked into the back garden of the wrong house before I realised it wasnt his and as I walked away the owners turned up which was a very close call and could have led to me answering some awkward questions. After finding the right house I sat and had a brew with Scott and Kathryn, Charlotte their daughter has really took a shine to me, she is one of the brightest 3 year olds I know and certainly not shy, we did a jigsaw together and she chatted non stop. Kathryn had cooked us a fish pie for tea and the kids went to bed. I spent another hour chatting with Scott and Kathryn before saying goodnight at 20:30. Thanks for reading xxx
