Day 7: We have trended to all the boats needs and are ready to shove off except we have two trucks to move forward of our planned track. Harry and my Dad leave early to leap frog one vehicle each day. The gates open for E2 at 8 AM and we dont want to miss them as it could cause a huge delay being out of sync with East bound traffic. At 7:55 I realize Dad and Harry are not going to make it back on time; lucky for us a barge pulls up and takes the first lock. Commercial traffic get priority and this barge is too large for anything else to get through. Ruben and I make things ready and have the boat idling and lines loose. Doors open and one boat pulls in..2 minutes later I hear the screeching of truck tires (Harry is a NY State corrections Officer and doesnt worry about tickets too much) two sailors running down the hill and we off and in the lock!! Good work boys!!
