Day 83 — Newly bereft of their nursing mom for the past couple weeks, the four kittens have until very recently still craved their daily quotient of mother’s milk. Today Sweet Pea’s brood is arguably well and thoroughly weaned at last. Within less than a week of separation from the kids, Sweet Pea herself predictably totally dried up, deflated, and seemed to completely return to her normal prepartum physique. If only humans could snap back from pregnancy, childbirth, and lactation so readily. Benefits of felines having had an additional 38 million years to develop on the Earth compared to our own relatively young 2.5 million years old species.
