Day 9: A couple of years ago right around Christmas, we got hit with a nasty ice storm that knocked out power through large chunks of the state. Conway wasnt hit too hard other than just the roads, but for her it was all over town and no power for days. One of the things I admire most about her is how much she cares and has compassion on even the tiniest of things. She pours so much love and attention into the Reptile Rescue Center and the animals within. Animals that most of us dont think too much about or find all that cuddly. Yet to her, theyre just as important and lovable as your dog or cat. With no power she was unable to maintain heat in the reptile sheds, which would kill every last one of the hundreds of reptiles that are contained within. She tirelessly brought everyone of them in containers and bags and brought them into her house and own bedroom and surrounded them in blankets near the tiny gas heater and only source of heat in the house. Eventually, and ironically right before the power came back on, in further decision to take care of the animals, she rented a hotel room down the road so transport and store the reptiles in so that their temperatures would regulate. Luckily the power was restored while they were being moved, but so much love and compassion for even the little things makes me so proud to have her in my life and an example to me on a daily basis.
