Day 928: Becoming Noteworthy Romans 16:14 Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas and the other brothers and sisters with them. Thoughts for Today: These are all just names to us, but to Paul each were special enough to call them out individually. This reminds me of a time when my oldest daughter Natalie began First Grade. She had come home from school a little less happy than usual. I asked my normally joyful child, Whats the matter? She answered, I wanted to play soccer today at recess, but when they picked the teams, I got picked last. I said, Well, did you have fun at least? She answered, Yep, and I kicked a goal. I said, Then Ill bet you wont be picked last tomorrow! Sure enough, the next day at recess, she was one of the first ones picked. So many people want to be recognized -- called out from the crowd -- to be special and acknowledged. Yet never do anything noteworthy. In our passage today, we dont know why Paul singled out these people -- just that he did. Somehow they had kicked a goal in his life. They had made a difference. Questions to Ponder: If the people you know were calling out a list of those who had made a difference in their lives -- would your name be mentioned? What have you done to merit recognition? What can you do to make a difference? Many times, it is simply small acts of kindness -- a selfless giving. What are your priorities? Do they need to be reordered?
