Day Four of One Week to Halloween. For those of you who, like me, are insane HP Lovecraft fans, In The Mouth of Madness is a valentine to the Master of Modern Horror from legendary director, John Carpenter. Sam Neill portrays John Trent, an insurance investigator who is hired by a major book publisher to find the reclusive author, Sutter Kane. Known for writing twisted horror novels that seemingly drive his readers insane, Kane is found hiding in a tiny hamlet in New England. But from there, things get interesting... Kane is actually in league with the Great Old Ones - beings of immense cosmic power that are fighting to enter the real world. Once Kane has finished his next novel, In the Mouth of Madness, the doors of the Sygian abyss will be opened and the entire would will be rendered insane. The movie was not a success at the box-office, but has become a cult-classic among Lovecraft devotees. The movie isnt particularily gory, but it is creepy and full of crazy ideas.
