Day Seventeen: Im supposed to be on my honeymoon! But since we re-arranged the wedding date to Saturday, I have still got a couple of days left to finish digging this tunnel. Only joking honey! Today, Melody left early to go to Laoag to pick up her wedding dress. plus the bridesmaids dresses, the flower girl dresses, the coin, cord, veil, candle and bible bearers Barong Tagalog plus Barongs for my Best Man and Groomsman. I stayed in bed for a little while longer, drinking my coffee and finishing the last few...er...finishing touches to the AV presentation. As I write this, my little netbook is busily whirring away, turning it from powerpoint to video. If that makes any sense to you,you need to get out more. Today was market day in Laoag, and probably not the best of days to pop into town, but the tailor appears to have got the measurements for the sleeves of my knock-off Armani suit confused with those of another client. Assuming that the other client is a silverback gorilla. An inch and a half too long in the sleeve meant that all that could be seen is my podgy little fingers poking out from the ends - useful in a cold country for grabbing hold of, Denis Law style, but here in the tropics, maybe less so. If the sleeves had been made of toweling material, maybe I could have used them to mop the sweat from my brow, but unfortunately they arent, so taken up they must be. I met up with Melody at the hotel where we are to be married, and met the somewhat effeminate Shabba - the MC of the whole shenanigans on Saturday. The priest didnt show up - too busy. They celebrate Mass at about 4am here in the run up to Christmas, so he was probably taking a nap. So I still have no idea when Im supposed to stand, sit, speak, fart or sneeze. Itll be alright on the night as they say.Expect loads of wedding photos of me looking like a simpleton. What do you mean, you already were? Photos attached are of a Barong Tagalog, traditional Filipino formal attire. Ours are gold-coloured. Perfect for tropical climes, and probably the wise persons choice, rather than a heavy, black three-piece suit. Ah! Now I understand the simpleton thing!
