Day by day it gets more obvious that our leaders and their spokespersons have very scant regard for the intelligence of the ordinary Nigerian. The explanation by the DSS spokesperson for the sustained gunshots that scared the daylight out of the inhabitants of Abuja this Sunday morning is a clear proof of that. The explanation was pedestrian and so, sucks! According to Marilyn Ogar, an attempted jail break by detained BH terrorists who had attacked and snatched a weapon from one of the guards and had wanted to break out of detention, at the SSS headquarters fortress, had necessitated the massive mobilization of military forces and hardware, including helicopter gunships, to ferret out men that had only ONE assault rifle – an Uzzi machine gun or an AK 47, with the maximum capacity of 30 rounds of ammunition. One is not insisting that they should tell us exactly what happened if that would further breach the fragile security situation, but for goodness, if they must proffer an explanation, let them tell us something that would not insult our intelligence. Please, the next time our security officials have nothing to say, let them not tell it to us. We might be hungry, but not foolish..
