Day trip to melbourne. flight down with VIrgin was uncharacteristically late on account that they misplaced a crew member. I offered to fly the plane but was declined. The trip home with Jetstar provided a diffetent experience. I arrived at Melbourne airport somewhat early and having only carry on baggage decided to see if I could hop on an earlier flight. Observing said earlier flight was Qantas I fronted up to a Qantas desk where the lady informed me I had to go to the Jetstar desk and that was near Gate 26. A short hike later and I fronted the desk. It had a sign advising Sevice Desk However the lady informed me they dont change flights. They do charge a fee and I had to go elsewhere to change my ticket. Hmm I seem to recall paying a small extra fee to allow me to change things for free. Went in search of this other counter. Gave up as a waste of time. Bought an over proceed Corona $9.50. Found a chair next to a power point and plugged in my computer. I had seen signs advertising qantas free wifi. I suspect they detect Jetstar customers and throttle it. Gave up and used my phone to connect the computer to the net. Did the email checking duty. Queued to board and one of two boarding pass scanner crashed. On board thanks for small gifts and had a seat with tones of leg room. Right near the mid cabin escape door. Prior to takeoff and the pleasantly beautiful Jenna came and sat facing me. After takeoff it was very bumpy. Somewhere down the back a baby screamed insesantly. Jenna spoke on her phone. I expressed sympathy for the mother. Jenna informed me the phone call was advising her that a number of people down the back had thrown up. Finally the plane found calm air and the seat belt sign went off. The lady behind me informed Jenna that she was about to have a seizure. Turned out Jenna was competent as well as good looking and took charge. Dispatching the people in the seats beside the patient and asking if she had medication and what the crew should do. She also arranged a call for a doctor. a few minutes later and the lady is lying down and the doc calls for a stethoscope and amazingly one is produced. The lady regains consciousness and they decamp for the back row so the doc can examine her chest. Finally order is restored and the all importent food trolley rolls through the cabin. No meals as such on Jetstar. Turns out I had a $5 credit included in my ticket. Indulged in a ham and cheese toastie. Which comes with a hearty serving of emulsifiers and flavor enhancers. And then we landed and that was that.
