Dazzled.......... My boss went on vacation this morning, but yesterday before he left he gave me $2000 to hold just in case there was an emergency with the company. This morning I was running late and I quickly ran into the deli to get some food for today. Now there is this lady who works the till whos face is always contorted by a frown and is always serious, makes very little small talk. So I pulled out the money to pay just wanting to get out of there as quick as possible to catch a taxi..... I hear this long drawn out breath.....,. Hey whats your name again? She asked sweetly, no more frown. Clyde. Nice day today.. What is it you do again Clyde ? I reply quickly telling her what I do. Now this lady is always quick with the change, however, she is picking up the change and putting it back as if looking for something else. Clyde tell me something , a nice guy like you must have a wife at home, you should get her to cook for you. She insinuates. Finally I get my change, but just smiled and did not give her the satisfaction of answering her insinuation. As I turned to walk out the door, I say thank you. Clyde nice shirt by the way, see you tomorrow darling. I just smile and continued on my way to work. Sitting here I go over the whole situation and realized that it upon seeing all the money in my hands that caused her to show here true colors.....Are people so easily dazzled by the sight of money.... What was she thinking , that I will take her out, pay her bills and help bring about the realization of her desires. People seem to be really hung up on money, its like it possesses their soul. When they have it they feel good and without it they feel like nothing... Come on, get ah whole of yourself. Money does not equal happiness period... If you are not happy before you get money , then your happiness will be short lived with it. Women when you let your self be easily dazzled by some paper that did not even belong to me, you set yourself up for charlatans to take advantage of you. Did I mention that she was wearing a wedding ring... I guess love takes a back seat to cash in this world. Clyde Viechweg ( reflections in a cold city)
