KARACHI: In view of the possible contingencies arising because of the cyclone named Nilofar, de-stuffing of containerized imported goods remained suspended at Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT), Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) and Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) on Thursday. The similar practice is being carried on at these terminals on Friday also. The containers are grounded but the goods are not being de-stuffed for examination. It was learnt that about 200 containers containing fabric, garments, food stuff, miscellaneous, toys, and carton-packed items were not examined. Only vehicles, scrap and green channel consignments were cleared on Thursday. It was learnt that Customs and importers mutually agreed on this practice to avoid loss to the imported goods, which might occur due to possible rain and wind storm.
