DeMbare to go it alone: Harare giants Dynamos say they will participate in the continental African safari without any sponsors after their major financiers’ BancABC indicated they could not assume the responsibilities of the CAF Champions League. The Dynamos executive accompanied by the board of trustee member Bernard Marriot made the announcement during a media briefing in the capital. The executive cited the decision to go it alone even without sponsorship has been prompted by a commitment not to disappoint their fans as well as the nation at large. The DeMbare executive also took the opportunity to call on willing partners to come and form strategic unions that will help ease the financial burden during their quest to conquer Africa. The Glamour Boys are perennial campaigners in the CAF Champions League though of late their results have been disappointing. In 2008, DeMbare reached the semi-finals of the Champions League before storming into the mini-league phase the following year. The best the Glamour Boys have achieved in the Champions League is the finals, a feat they achieved in 1998.
