Awards will be announced at the ASBWP Annual Business Meeting to be held at the Annual Meeting of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists in Atlanta, GA, March 17-22, 2015. AWARD DESCRIPTIONS The Anna Julia Cooper Outstanding Publication Award Awarded to a political scientist for the most outstanding article in a peer-reviewed journal or book, on Black women in politics (published January 2014-December 2015). The Mae C. King Distinguished Paper Award on Women, Gender and Black Politics Awarded for the best paper presented by a political scientist on women, gender and Black Politics at a national or regional Political Science conference in the past academic year (2013-2014). The JoAnn Gibson Robinson Dissertation Writing Award Awarded to a Ph.D. student in Political Science, who has advanced to candidacy and who expects to receive the degree no earlier than December of the award year (2015). Applicant’s dissertation must focus on some aspect of Black women in politics in the United States or globally. The Ida B. Wells Undergraduate Essay Prize Awarded for the best paper on Black women in politics written by an undergraduate student majoring in Political Science or Government. Note: In keeping with the goals of the ASBWP, special consideration is given to research and scholarship that utilizes interdisciplinary approaches and/or innovative methods and diverse methodological orientations in studying politics.
