Ted Kriesel Announces candidacy for Mid-Town NOHO Neighborhood Council – Business Representative, District 4 North Hollywood, CA – March 12, 2014 – For immediate release Ted Kriesel, President of North Hollywood based TK Media Direct, will seek a second term on the Mid-Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council on March 20th, 2014; running for district 4 business representative. During his last board term which expired in 2012, this neighborhood candidate actively participated as co-chair of the Outreach Committee, promoting citizen participation in city government. His candidacy for re-election marks his on-going commitment to serve the public, promote community participation, ensuring all stakeholders have a voice, helping shape this amazing community in which he grew up. With key issues of the thriving NOHO Arts District being planned; the time is now for the new council to take a fresh approach to the public process. His sincere desire to listen, help educate and connect with the public will bring a new perspective to the discussion of issues before the Los Angeles City Council. As a candidate for change, Mr. Kriesel believes that the neighborhood system of encouraging community participation has been compromised by the current Mid-Town NOHO Board. A recent by-laws change enacted by the current board, specifically denies stakeholders the right to vote on committee recommendations to the board. “This rules change is nonsense; a committee vote is simply a recommendation to the board who will ultimately decide the outcome. By denying a stakeholder the right to influence a recommendation to the board through a committee vote is contrary to the purpose of neighborhood council, which was founded to promote citizen participation,” said Ted Kriesel. Kriesel continues, “If elected I will work to repeal this exclusionary policy created by the current Mid-Town NOHO board and realign Mid-Town NOHO with the majority of neighborhood councils who encourage stakeholder participation. We all deserve a seat at the table, and so do you!” Further, as an avid bicyclist a vote of Ted Kriesel is a vote for bike and pedestrian friendly streets. Currently, there are 95 Neighborhood Councils in the city of Los Angeles. Neighborhood Councils are extremely important in that it gives each and every person a voice. The Neighborhood Council system gives hundreds of thousands of hours in community service back to the city every year. Stakeholders who live, work or own property in North Hollywood and who are 18+ years old are eligible to vote and urged to do so on March 20th, 2014 from 4-8pm at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 6020 Radford Avenue, North Hollywood, CA, 91606. There will also be a blood drive going on as well, so everyone is welcome to come out and show support for a good cause.
