Dear 613 fb friends: wow, it has been a long time since Ive looked at this number and I have to feel a little smug that so many of you find me interesting or at least have forgotten to unfollow me. One of the things I like the most about social media is the powerful venue for sharing the news about opportunities to support projects I value--it is easy and fun and rewarding. So Id like to try a little experiment in support of the beloved Reading Rainbow reboot by the equally beloved LeVar Burton. The significance of this project is that he is going to create readers. Our communities need readers, our nation needs readers, readers who enjoy books and will become the future supporters of bookstores, libraries, and writers. So, if the 613 people I know on fb reposted this to their followers--wow, that would be some exposure! Maybe some of you havent already spent all your pocket money this month and will donate? Maybe some of you will repost and donate? Lets see what happens! Yes, the project already met its original goal of 1 million, but the stretch goal of 5 million has 14 days to go.
