Dear Member, SONY MUSIC’S talent search for a young male Caribbean reggae/pop artiste closes in T&T with an Open Mic session on Saturday, 27th. July from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at The Academy for the Performing Arts, UTT Campus @ NAPA, Keate Street, Port-of-Spain. “We know there is wealth of undiscovered talent in T&T," says Caribbean Media & Entertainment Consultant Josanne Leonard, “so we’re happy to link with The Academy for the Performing Arts, UTT Campus and the Caribbean Super Station to give an opportunity to artists and talented youngsters without recorded material.” “This search is for a young male performer in his teens to mid 20’s and SONY is keen to sign a gifted reggae/pop/cross over singer to a major record deal” says Leonard. “T&T has a long history of great music and we’re excited to provide a platform for a new wave of young performers who may have what it takes to be the next Billy Ocean,” she added, in obvious reference to the Grammy winning son of the soil who had a string of international hit records on both sides of the Atlantic and globally. According to Leonard, each performer will have one and half to two minutes for a performance - acapella, acoustic, or with backing tracks. The session will be recorded. Leonard who has been coordinating the pan-Caribbean search says in the meantime the talent call remains open until Monday 29th, July 2013. “We are not the most time-sensitive people so this is the very last opportunity for anyone who is seriously interested," she added. Interested persons should send social media music links and electronic press kits (EPK’s) only to [email protected] or submit a demo CD with photo, age and contact information to: SONY MUSIC SCOUT, 305 Goodwood Heights, Morne Coco Road, Diego Martin. Leonard stressed that they will not be accepting music files (mp3’s) via email and insists that demo submissions without the required information will not be accepted. On Saturday’s session, Leonard says “we’re definitely looking for that little bit of magic."
