Dear All, Hope all of you are doing well. I am writing this post to thank everyone who remembered and honored my father, Mr. Sikander Farooqui. My family and I are deeply moved by the gestures and sentiments shown by my father’s family, friends and cricket organizations. It has been over a year since he left us to be at a better place but still the wound and pain feels fresh but the love and affection which all you have shown has helped us heal and be strong. My father used to tell me his experiences, good or bad, which he faced in life, to make me a better and a stronger person and majority of his experiences were of cricket. How EPCA became his family and how he made the best of friends in life through cricket. We were 3 siblings but he always used to say that I have 4 children, us 3 and EPCA. So I thank Eastern Province Cricket Association (EPCA) for always remembering and honoring him in every part of the way. I wish and I know that he will always be with you in every step of the way and you will never let his hard work be forgotten. My father had such special relationship with all his friends that all of them were very special. I thank all of you for your all time support, love and prayers. I would like to thank the Saudi Cricket Center and specially Mr. Nadeem Nadwi and his team for honoring my father by arranging a tournament in his honor, Sir Sikander Farooqui Memorial T20. My father used to tell me that Mr. Nadwi is a very hardworking, honest and a dedicated person but above all, he is a great friend and Sir, you proved it once again that he was right. I would like to thank my Uncle, Mr. Azhar Farooqui, for naming our cricket club (formerly known as SST Cricket Club) as Sikander Farooqui Cricket Club and honoring him with love, respect and affection in every step of the way. I thank the editor in chief of Saudi Gazette and Urdu News for posting articles for my father’s hard work and determination of improving cricket in the Kingdom. I thank all the cricket organizations who honored my father with tournaments played under his name and for always remembering my father and honoring him with the utmost respect and tokens of appreciation for his hard earned services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His dream was to unite all the cricket organizations under one umbrella and to have such relationships which will always be remembered and cherished. Keep the spirit alive by playing and loving the game. Last but not the least; I would like to thank all the cricket clubs of Eastern Province Cricket Association for always remembering my father and his hard work. I am sure he has shared a special memory with all of you. Keep up the spirit of the cricket. He always wanted cricket to shine in the Kingdom and we can honor him by always playing the game with full determination, unity, healthy competition and having fun at the same time.
