Dear Allison Michaud: The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has advised the U.S. Department of Labor that a new member must begin paying dues before becoming eligible to vote in the April 2014 election for international officers. If your payment of dues through dues check-off will not begin until after the April election in your local lodge, then you must pay your first month’s dues directly to your local lodge prior to the election in order to vote. You should bring documentation of your direct dues payment with you when you arrive to vote. If you are not certain what local lodge you have been assigned to, you should contact the IAM District Lodge 141 Secretary-Treasurer Dave Atkinson at [email protected]. It appears that you may be a member of either Local Lodge 811 or Local Lodge 2198. If so, here is their information for this week’s elections: Local Lodge 811 Wednesday, April 2, 2014 Polls: 6am – 6pm Marriott IAH Airport 18700 JFK Blvd. Houston, TX 77032 Local Lodge 2198 Thursday, April 3, 2014 Polls: 6am – 7pm 8118 Park Place Blvd. #100 Houston, TX 77017 Alison Dunn Investigator, DOE OLMS/US DOL (202)693-0162
