Dear Central Waterside Friends and Family, Last week, we had an interesting worship service. The Community Life Team opened up sign ups for small groups with style. They organized a flash mob to Philip Phillips song Home. It was an awesome reflection of the message for the week which focused on how Gods LOVE CAN rescue our relationships. The middle schoolers helped serve communion and we had a great week set up on the beach. The children studied Samson and the rest of us focused on I Corinthians 13. It was a great week. As we look ahead, consider the following: 1) This week: We are continuing our LOVE CAN series and are going to focus on how Gods LOVE CAN Change Our World. Can you imagine a world where there is enough food, enough water, enough time, enough money,.. …enough love? Gods LOVE CAN change the world to that end! We are going to hear about a clean drinking water initiative and how we can get involved. The Waterside Band is sharing the worship responsibilities while Brett is taking a much needed weeks vacation with his family. I cant wait to hear Ed, Jeff, Debra, and Jeff as they lead different songs as our praise to God. Its going to be great! 2) Dinner with the Pastor: Each month Al Bartholomew will be hosting a dinner with me at his home in Pensacola. There are 18 slots per month available and we are trying to give everyone a chance to attend so please only sign up for one dinner. What if...this church led more people to clean water, classrooms, teachers, pastors, and the good news of Jesus Christ? Visit our LOT Missions water table today. Pick up a World Vision catalog for more information on water through Christian organizations such as World Vision. What if our actions spoke as loud as our words? In John 4:13 Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 4) Community Life: Ft. Pickens Bike Ride : THIS Sunday, Oct. 20 Meet at 4:45 at the last parking lot before Ft. Pickens on the sound side, Bike ride starts at 5pm. We are looking for people who can volunteer once per month! We will have the lessons planed and supplies provided and the lesson only lasts for about 20-25 minutes. If you are a high school student looking to earn some volunteer hours we would love for you to log them with us! Contact Jessi if you would like to volunteer at [email protected] or (678) 416-6570. 6) Eds Note: I absolutely love Sunday mornings! For those of you that havent been there at 6am, its really something special to watch a beach bar transform into a place of worship. As that gorgeous sun is rising in the East, our Navy guys are setting up that heavy stage. As soon as they are done, we take over and start setting up sound equipment. You get to catch the smell of the salt air, freshly brewing coffee, and Miss Carols apple walnut cake. Our sound check is supposed to start at 8am, but sometimes life has other plans, as Im sure most of you have seen us scrambling around at 8:45 trying to get it together. Some mornings I leave the stage after sound check and ask my wife if we sounded as bad as I thought we sounded. No matter how difficult things go, God seems to make it work and our worship time together is great. Everyone should at least once come out early and help the setup team, its a wonderful experience. This week we have some great music planned, and we look forward to worshiping with you. I continue to be amazed at the expressed faith in the lives of our people. I continue to hear stories about how Gods love is changing the lives of families, businesses, and our community. I encourage you to keep praying for folks who keep their struggles internal, yet are finding Gods grace through our worship together each week. We never know what is going on in the heart of the person sitting next to us. Sometimes it is a deep search for Gods purpose and calling. For others, it is a longing to belong and find hope. For some, it is a celebration of what is good and right in the world. We all come together to worship and I am excited that we have such a divergent group of folks who call Central Waterside their home. Love one.
