Dear Choral Friends, Lakewood Baptist Church is in need of a 3-month interim music director. Please see the letter: Dear Friend(s): As many of you know, Lakewood Baptist Church was blessed to welcome a new Minister of Music this past June, Elaine Stone. Thus far, it’s been a great run, with Elaine acclimating very well, learning more and more about the idiosyncrasies of our congregation, while simultaneously “raising the bar” on our varied music ministry, including the Praise Team, Celebration Choir, Karen Choir, and Judson Bells. In 2014, we anticipate further strengthening and expansion. We’re on a great trajectory… and we look forward to an exciting time in the New Year. And yet, we learned a couple weeks ago that Elaine needs to undergo cardiac surgery (November 13)… and the LBC leadership has unanimously agreed to grant her a three-month sabbatical. So we find ourselves in need of a gifted, experienced church musician (or musicians) who would come along side us during this transitional period. In the “ideal world,” we’d most like to call an Interim Minister of Music who would/could assume Elaine’s three key responsibilities: Organ accompaniment, Direction of the Choir, and Leading of the Praise Team. But we realize that not every musician is gifted in all those ways. And so we are flexible and fluid…. And highly adaptable. Meaning: We are willing to fashion the music ministries around the gifts of whoever we believe the Lord is going to send our way. Please note: It is critical that anyone interested be a seasoned PIANIST/KEYBOARDIST. Beyond that, all other aspects (as mentioned) are negotiable. Example: If someone was “just an organist,” we could work with that. OR: If someone was comfortable directing/accompanying the Choir, but NOT the Praise Team, we could work with that. OR: If someone was interested in working with our Praise Team and playing hymns on the keyboard (not the organ), we could work with that. OR: If someone JUST wanted to be hired-in for Advent and Christmas (and not November or January), we could work with that. Again: We are fluid and flexible. The next best step is to “spread the word,” and start connecting with potential candidates asap. Conversation is key. Prayer is essential. Revelation is coming. In the last few years, we have seen God surprise, delight, and bless us time and time again. Today, we remind ourselves of that reality, allowing it to shape our Hope and Expectations. If you know a gifted musician who is seeking short-term work within a church, please forward this to her/him asap! I can best be reached via email: PastorJonathanGlassRiley@gmail. Phone: 216-978-8068. I thank you in advance for your assistance! Riding the Wave, Pastor J. Lakewood Baptist Church 14321 Detroit Ave. Lakewood, Ohio 44107
