Dear Church Family, If you anticipate Christmas with a strange mix of dread and joy, you’re not alone. Christmas, and the holiday season in general, is a time for family and celebration, but it can also be filled with stress. Getting the Christmas cards out on time, baking, shopping, decorating and attending event after event can drain us of the holiday spirit and perhaps even make us a little “grinchy.” At this time of year when we prepare for Christ’s birth, know that Christmas will happen with or without you. Christmas will happen without the cookies, the cards, and finding just the right gift. Stop, pause, take a deep breath, and know that God has come in Christ. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself to make Christmas special; it’s already special because of Jesus. God chose to come to our world to show us how God loves. Have a safe, sane, and Merry Christmas. Prayer from Fr. Henri Nouwen. Lord Jesus,Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!” I am honored to be your pastor, Pastor Scott Casebeer
