Dear Colleagues , Alsalmu Alaykum. As some of you well - TopicsExpress

Dear Colleagues , Alsalmu Alaykum. As some of you well know, following a review of the Medical Act in 2011, the Irish Medical Council rendered the internship carried out in Sudan as non-equivalent to Irish standards & hence Graduates from sudan were not permitted to carry out higher training in Ireland . Since then, SDUI has been working tirelessly on the subject as a facilitator/moderator of the different departments involved both in ireland & sudan. We promised our members and fellow colleagues affected by the decision that we will not rest till the decision is reversed ... and we are proud to say today that we delivered ! The SDUI-EC has received written confirmation from the IMC that sudan internship is equivalent to irish standards with immediate effect . This decision guarantees; 1. Sudan graduates can join all higher training programs their eligible to 2. Those who are seeking non-training posts do NOT need to take the PRES exam and are automatically entitled to the general division once the IELTS standards are achieved. This has been the result of prolonged negotiations , endless communications and even travelling up and down Dublin -Khartoum route on a few occasions. However, the real drive we had was the stand of our colleagues behind the SDUI EC with ideas, suggestions , contacts or simple cheer up. For this you deserve a big thank you from us. This was an important step achieved but by no means the last of challenges. We hope your support for you Union continues to take those challenges down one by one. SDUI EC
