Dear Cypress Pointe Residents, Attached is a video surveillance clip taken a couple of weeks ago at Silverlakes, another gated Gateway HOA. Per information given to your association President, please take note of the following: 1. Clothes….easy to change clothing description by removing hoodie and having on different colored clothes if spotted walking. 2. Backpack to store items stolen. Can leave this somewhere and come back and get so no items are on him if stopped. 3. How he canvases the vehicle first looking inside to see if worth breaking into. 4. How he then rocks the vehicle to test and see if a car alarm is on. 5. And final mistake….notices the camera and looks dead into it so then pulls up the hoodie “to not be identified” in case it is just a fake camera. The deputy that often patrols the neighborhood has been pushing for residents to close their garage doors when they are not in the immediate vicinity because this is an easy and quick breach for someone staking out the community looking for a quick pick. On some of his patrols he has reported as many as 15 open and unattended garages. This not only invites someone to check out what you have but also draws them to your neighbors. He was appreciative of the community leaderships role in pushing this issue and the resident’s responsiveness. His job is to assist with safety and control crime.
