Dear Duck fans... after an incident that happened Sunday re Duck - TopicsExpress

Dear Duck fans... after an incident that happened Sunday re Duck memes and graphics ownership and being accused of stealing an meme, slapping a watermark on it and claiming it as my own, I feel that I need to address the entire Duck community. As many of you know, I run and manage a lot of Duck fan pages on Facebook. (Not groups, pages, the things people willingly click the like button to become a fan of.) The posts on these pages are mostly images and graphics. 80% - 90% of the graphics we share on the pages are custom designs created by myself (Flock Dr) and Shawn M Cosby (Duck Vincci). The pages are mostly managed by me, but I do have a couple of other admins who help us keep up with adding new posts and foul language on the page. My / Our Duck pages are 100% volunteer and it takes a lot of time with no direct benefit to us except a way to show our love for the Ducks in a positive voice, win, lose or draw. Many of you also know I own and operate Nocturnal Energy, a strategic website development and graphic design company. I am EXTREMELY sensitive to ownership rights of digital content. It is really frustrating to me (and other digital / graphic designers) when someone takes an image we have created, ERASES the watermarks we have added to the images we have custom designed, then claims them as their own. Wed love it if you used the share button but we understand it doesnt work the same on all devices. Were totally fine with you uploading it to your personal Facebook pages (profiles) just PLEASE leave the watermark in tact. Do we really even need to say that? Good Grief! That being said, we do share other graphics created by other great Duck fans and photos Duck fans send to us. WE DO NOT ADD WATERMARKS OF ANY KIND TO THESE IMAGES WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION. We do our absolute best to credit to the original creator / photographer. How do we do that? Thanks for asking. First, we try to identify the original creator of the image. That is not always such an easy to do... but we try. After we have identified the original creator, we try to share the image from their page or profile. Due to personal Facebook profile account privacy settings, if the image is set to be seen by friends of friends, it will not be seen by the general public. If it cant be seen by everyone due to privacy settings, we contact the person and ask if they would like to change their privacy setting (on that image) so we can share it. Some people think its ridiculous we even asked and tell us to just add it to the page. In those instances, we download and re-upload the image to our page (no watermark). If they would like us to mention them in the description or tag them in the photo, we are happy to do that. Some people want no credit given at all. Some people dont want 1,000 notifications that someone liked an image because they were tagged in it. We understand either way. *** Update to page image policy as of yesterday: Images we have not created will be tagged as artist unkown. If you want to make a claim on the image, please send a private message to the page and we begin the verification process. With all this in mind... What Duck lover was the original creator of this graphic? We would LOVE to give you credit, but its been floating around and stolen by so many people, we dont know who it belongs too. (BTW, I did make one little change since the game is on Friday this year. I guess from the comments people had a hard time reading the description.) Peace. GO DUCKS!
