Dear Eve, Fast Internet is good. Letting telecom companies - TopicsExpress

Dear Eve, Fast Internet is good. Letting telecom companies speed up select parts of the Internet is bad. Bad like your neighborhood hardware stores website loading slower than a corporate competitor that pays those telecom companies for special access. Thursday the FCC released a proposal for new rules on Net Neutrality. Im concerned the new rules could allow content providers to purchase Internet “fast lanes” -- which would deliver their content faster than everyone elses. Cory Booker and I agree: we can’t let that happen. Thousands of you have already taken action, too -- thank you. Net neutrality guarantees a level playing field on the Internet. If the new rules arent strong enough, they could restrict our access to websites and crush small start-ups trying to innovate and compete against established Internet giants. I’m joining with Cory and Daily Kos to call on the FCC to hold strong and protect net neutrality -- click here to add your name to ours. We shouldn’t hand over more power to big Internet companies at the expense of consumers and small businesses struggling to innovate. Net neutrality is a cornerstone of the Internet, and it should stay that way. Sign our petition and urge the FCC to reject the proposed rule change. protect-netneutrality/booker Thanks for your help. Al Franken P.S.: Senator Booker, Daily Kos and I have not bought our own Internet fast lane. To sign our petition, you’ll have to use the old-fashioned Internet -- while it’s still around.
