Your time starts now NEW DELHI: Chief Justice of India HL Dattu has said that vacancies in the top court will be filled up soon under the existing collegium system as the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) — which will take over the task of appointing judges — is yet to be constituted. We will not wait for anything. We will not place any bar on ourselves, the CJI said. The President has already signed the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) Act, but it is yet to be notified. It can only formally start working if the rules under the law are framed and also vetted by Parliament which will take some time. In the interim there will be no hiatus, the CJI indicated.
