Dear Face Book family, Please allow me to thank you all for you love and support over these last difficult weeks. I will try to up date you all on whats going on as much as i possibly can. I posted this letter to you all this morning before el grumpo and i went and saw her, and since then Ive had a few updates... Mum was diagnosed with bone cancer nearly 3 weeks ago. Please pass this on to the others and I will continue to let you all know how Mum is going. For the most part she is her usual stoic self, strong and she has kept her sense of humour which is good. She had surgery on her right humerous where part of the bone has been eaten away and the rest was fractured. And even though Mum’s right arm is where the main sight of the cancer was and after the MRI’S and scans, the doctors at Royal Perth found cancer in three other spots. ONE ON THE UPPER RIGHT SHOULDER, THE STERNUM AND LEFT HUMEROUS. Because the right arm has been out of action for a while now, the left arm has had to compensate for the right arm. And because Mum has over compensated the use of her left arm, it’s starting to give out as well. The doctors and physios originally thought it was the muscle just been over worked and so to make certain that it is, Mum’s had X-ray on the spot on her left arm and were its sore it is also on the same site where the second cancer was found. When I saw her yesterday and today, she needed help with from me as she against has lost upper mobility... as for the cancer on the sternum and on the right shoulder... no trouble there as yet... flushing the loo, blowing her nose and her dinner and desert and of course, being an independent woman she is not happy about it and she is as embarrassed as hell. And I can certainly sense her embarrassment as well. Think any human being who is strong and as independent as she is would be as well. However, Mum is remaining positive and happy and I know she is desperate to get home. **Mum might be going in to theater again tomorrow... and that’s a big maybe. But the surgeon she had for the first operation did a great job. Since Saturday, Mum’s had all the tubes removed and the catheter thank heavens and know she’s got to work on getting her strength and vigor back. Anyhow, today is my Mummy’s 71st birthday and I intend to spoil her rotten, she deserves it and all wonderful Mummy’s the world over should always get spoiled. Blessings to you all Pippa xx
