Dear Facebook family & friends, In case you missed my first of the year message I have committed this year to share my Daily Connection with you. So far I have been blessed with these short devotionals and I pray that you will be too. Have a blessed New Year! January 5, 2015 DAILY VERSE: He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, “ ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’ ” Mark 4:11 DAILY CONNECTION: There are stories throughout the bible that pique our attention and encourage us to consider the deeper symbolism hidden in His teaching. Jesus is one of my favorite teachers. He taught in visually-rich parables thickened with symbols the crowds would understand. Even today, His parables draw me in. I wait in anticipation, like a child being read their favorite story. Jesus also cleverly taught so that people with an open heart would understand His message, but those who opposed Him would not. Like a man without sight, if blind to Jesus’ parable truths, the true meaning of the teaching may not be understood. Does Jesus choose to open our eyes to different truths as we grow and move forward in life? Is it possible that the truths Jesus reveals to us become more complex, deeper and richer as we mature in our faith? After all, Jesus perfectly times everything in your life. POINT OF CONNECTION: The bible is rich with instructions for living and following God. Parables are deep, multi-leveled lessons designed to reveal secrets as we are ready to learn them. What is Jesus trying to teach you in this season of your life? Do you need to look a bit closer to understand what Jesus is trying to communicate with you? TLN~Total Living Network
