Dear Family & Friends, My Freedom is quickly coming to an end. - TopicsExpress

Dear Family & Friends, My Freedom is quickly coming to an end. In ONE WEEK, on Wednesday, November 5th an officer is coming to arrest me for having a big heart. I’m being thrown in the slammer...well, the Joe’s Crab Shack slammer. I am participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Associations Downtown Fort Myer’s Lock-Up which benefit’s local families who are living with one of 43 forms of muscular dystrophy, including ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). It feels great knowing I can play a small part in making a difference to these families. A few facts that I wasn’t aware of are: 77% if all funds raised go directly to services MDA provides $30 purchases a flu shot $65 provides one minute of research $100 provides one support group session $150 helps provide one occupational, physical, respiratory or speech therapy consultation $500 provides one family with annual repairs of durable medical equipment $800 sends on child to MDA Summer Camp If you’ve already contributed toward my bail, thank you! If you haven’t donated yet, please click on the link below to pitch in...or I will be giving you a call from my jail cell on Wednesday so you can help out family members like Jimmy. Jimmy lives right here in Southwest Florida. Jimmy has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle weakness. As muscles degenerate over time, muscle strength declines. DMD is found primarily in boys and usually can be identified as early as age 3. By the early teens or even earlier, the boy’s heart and respiratory muscles also may be affected. In the 1980’s, very little was known about DMD, therefore leaving the life expectancy for boys like Jimmy at about 15 years. Thanks to donors like you, MDA has been able to fund research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, extending the life expectancy to almost 30 years. Thank you so much for your support. Remember, every donation means more breakthroughs for MDA and help for MDA family members like Jimmy. It’s easy, tax deductible and completely secure.
