Dear Family and Friends, I am excited to tell you about a trip Ive planned to Swaziland Africa next spring. This is a great opportunity for me to be a part of responding to the devastating effects of the HIV/ AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa. I have come to understand that Swaziland is a nation of warm, beautiful people with a devastating problem; having the highest rate of HIV/AIDS in the world. I am traveling with a group of people who are associated with a mission organization called Project Glory. This is a ministry of Central Community Church and they partner with a Swazi mission organization called Shiselweni Home- Based Care (SHBC), shbcare.org. Through this ministry more than 1000 local volunteers care for their neighbors who are sick, and we will be coming along side these volunteer in several ways, including the assembly and delivery of wheelchairs. Most importantly we hope to encourage the caregivers who work tirelessly day- after-day. Others, who have traveled to work with SHBC in years past, have assured me that the friendships theyve shared with the caregivers have empowered them to keep serving, even in unbelievably difficult circumstances. I would like to ask you to consider partnering with me by supporting me in prayer and by helping me to meet my financial goals. The total cost of the trip is $2150.00. This covers my airfare and the cost of everything in Swaziland enabling us to spend the whole time giving practical help and ongoing hope to people who are already serving their neighbors .
