In August 2012 Avondale Officers responded to a call of an armed robbery in progress at Costco where the suspect broke through a glass jewelry case with a crow bar and stole a pair of diamond earrings priced at $18,999.00 while armed with a handgun. The suspect’s blood was recovered as evidence, along with other items, and sent to the lab for processing. On 11/18/2014, APD Criminal Investigations Bureau was notified of a DNA hit through the Arizona State DNA Index System (SDIS) identifying Jose Guadalupe Haros-Ibarra as the source of blood evidence found at the Costco during the initial investigation. Avondale PD Detectives contacted Jose Haros-Ibarra while he was in custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and during a post-Miranda interview he admitted to his involvement in the armed robbery. Charges for Armed Robbery are being filed against Haros-Ibarra.
