Dear Fort Kid Volunteers, T-MINUS 12 HOURS! Can yall believe that our Volunteer Day is so close? Neither can we! Here is some info you need to keep in mind for our big day: 1. When should I arrive? Volunteers should arrive around 9:30am to get their assignments, and work will begin promptly at 10am. 2. What do I do when I arrive? First, head toward our Volunteer Tent. Second, at the tent, sign a waiver and make yourself a name tag. Third, find your name on the volunteer board to get your (a) work/team assignment and (b) find out who your foreman/team leader is. Once youve gotten your assignment and foreman, go find your foreman for more info! Our volunteer coordinators will be standing by to help you out! 3. Whats the deal with the Love Bus shuttle? Im glad you asked. To make the shuttle, park/meet at Laurel Church of Christ (3457 Kingston Pike) to hitch a free ride over to Fort Kid. The bus will be running constantly from 8:30am until our last shuttle leaves Fort Kid at 2:30pm. If the Love Bus is not there when you arrive, sit tight - they will be back for you shortly! 4. What do I do when Im done? After your task is complete and your foreman/team leader has dismissed you, you can either: (a) head back to the Volunteer Tent to get reassigned to another group; or (b) youre free to enjoy all the festivities, eat at the awesome food trucks, etc. and take off! Whatever you decide, we appreciate your help!! 5. Is there somewhere I can go afterward with all my new Fort Kid friends? Yes! The Bearden Beer Market (4524 Old Kingston Pike) has generously agreed to host our weary (of-age) volunteers and will donate a portion of pint sales to Fort Kid to help with our continuing renovations! Of course, if you get done early, feel free to enjoy the KMAs activities, food trucks, and more around Worlds Fair Park. 6. What if its raining? Rain or shine, we will be there!
