Dear Friends, Family, Loved Ones, Colleagues and Dance Lovers, Now is the time for the BIG ASK. As you know, the dance festival I produce (CHOP SHOP) is in danger of not happening this 2015 season. We have been running a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds needed to move forward and we are $2300 short of our goal with just over 48 hours left. What you may not know is that unless we FULLY reach our $8000 goal, we will get nothing. We knew this was a big risk, but with the Festival in such a precarious state, we had no choice but to take the leap (no pun intended.) Let me also take a moment to say that there is no fun in fundraising. Its exhausting, stressful, and takes many long hours of work that you never see (thank you Lizzy Melton!) CHOP SHOP has been very fortunate over the past seven years to have never had the need to reach out and ask for funds from the public. And, as you hear me say every year (in the most talked about pre-show curtain speeches this city has ever seen,) the income from ticket sales does not cover the cost of producing this whole event. With grant money and ticket sales together, the event breaks even. This year we need to turn to you for help. And many of you have MOST GENEROUSLY pitched in to help, and for that we are eternally grateful! So, if you have ever been to CHOP SHOP on a free ticket (we give away about 100 each year to dance newcomers) or if you have ever performed in a Festival, or if you attended any of the free community classes or master classes, or if you seen any of the great dance work over the past seven years, or if you love dance and want to help keep it alive, relevant, and accessible - THEN NOW IS YOUR TIME TO HELP! All donations are tax deductible! $5 dollars would be a GREAT help! $25 dollars would be TERRIFIC! $1000 would shut me up and secure this unique and outstanding dance event that has become …Seattles most talked about and important outlets for dance.
