Dear Friends, Is the middle class has second thoughts about AAP? - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, Is the middle class has second thoughts about AAP? A key issue that seems to be bothering their minds is the resignation of Kejriwal government. There are people who think, Kejriwal had an opportunity to govern but he threw it all away because he is too ambitious and wanted to grow bigger, faster. Let us recall the reason leading up to the resignation of Kejriwal. When the Jan Lokpal bill was expected to be tabled in the assembly, Arvind Kejriwal had said categorically many times that if the bill can’t be passed, his government would resign. Nowadays in Indian politics, it is difficult to find a leader who does not want to hang on to power at any cost. Kejriwal’s critics will disagree, but he showed his conviction and courage. No doubt he might have thought that if the primary agenda of AAP couldn’t be passed, then there was no point of remaining in power. It is a clear stand and ideology. It is not about being in power. It is the matter of bringing systemic changes and that changes would not come with a minority government. The AAP government was in such a situation and there was no option left but to resign. It was an incredible display of clarity of thought and purpose, the kind of political leadership this country has not witnessed in the lifetime of most of its young generation. A strong anti-corruption movement is the cornerstone of AAP’s agenda. So anyone who expects the AAP to compromise on corruption has completely misread this movement and what it stands for.
