The community is invited to attend the festival free of charge. Mayor Mark Stodola will share information about the Main Street revitalization project at 12:00 PM on the main stage. This year we have something very new and exciting coming to our festival. Get ready Arkansas Earth Day Festival! The CHOmobile is coming your way! Chobani will be passing out free samples of CHOBANI® Greek Yogurt from their CHOmobile! Keep an eye out for the trailer with beautiful fruits and huge cups of CHOBANI® on the side! This year we have included many exciting children’s activities. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Education Aquarium will educate children about the types of fish living in our waters with a 1,500-gallon aquarium exhibit. Another exciting activity will be the solar powered Jump Zone Area that cost $5 for unlimited jumping throughout the day. Returning to the festival, are several booths that will feature educational materials teaching the community how to live a greener life. Another returning crowd pleaser is the Tie Dye Booth. Participants can bring their own shirt and dye it for $3, buy a previous year’s Earth Day Festival T-shirt for $5 or purchase a NEW festival shirt for $10 and tie dye it FOR FREE. Several local food trucks will be present at the festival including the Café@Heifer along with Loblolly Creamery, which makes organic and gluten-free ice cream. For music lovers, talented musicians will play throughout the day. We have something very special for the children this year. Coming from Northwest Arkansas and sponsored by the Illinois River Watershed Partnership, “Marshall Mitchell with the Clean Water Raingers” will perform environmental songs. Mitchell will teach children about the water cycle and stormwater runoff. Another great band we have performing is “Kish Moody and the House of Melody Band.” You don’t want to miss out on all the great performances we have coming this year! The Arkansas Earth Day Foundation aims to create the Arkansas Earth Day Festival for the community to broaden the conservation movement statewide. The foundation encourages, educates and motivates people, businesses and government to take responsibility for a greener, cleaner and healthier way of life through a fun and relaxing festival. Heifer International’s mission is to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. Since 1944, Heifer International has provided livestock and environmentally sound agricultural training to improve the lives of those who struggle daily for reliable sources of food and income. Heifer is currently working in more than 40 countries, including the United States, to help families and communities become more self-reliant.
