Dear Friends, My collaborator/partner Avery Bargar and I have embarked on the creation of an interview-based documentary play about the 2013 Boston Marathon. Weve collected dozens of hours of interviews with people affected by the attacks of that week and its aftermath, including first responders, runners, race officials, volunteers, the funeral director of Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, and friends of the alleged bombers. This is a list that is quickly growing. Everyones voice is valuable and must be leant to this conversation. We both believe passionately that theater is a powerful space where this kind of dialogue is possible. The goal of this play is to ask important questions: ask why these attacks happened how they have affected people, and what have we learned since.
