Dear Friends Our coastal environments are in trouble. Every day, plastic and other man made debris litter our coastlines. Marine animals are poisoned and their habitats destroyed. Center for Coastal Preservation strives to change this for future generations. We are dedicated to the cleaning and preservation of coastal shorelines and conservation programs for the coastal and marine environments. Through public awareness, we can develop community pride and institute programs for maintaining the fragile marine environment. This can be done by protecting existing native habitats and minimizing the future fragmentation of the coastal landscape. Center for Coastal Preservation is an IRS recognized 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization and was founded in 2011. The idea was formed when a group of like minded friends walked along a beach and started picking up trash. It turned into a regular occurrence and the need to expand became apparent. We are a young and expanding nonprofit organization. This year we were able to remove hundreds of pounds of trash from beaches and river banks. We traveled from the British Virgin Islands to the coast of Maine and back home to clean up the Norwalk River. We are a 100% volunteer run organization and our costs are covered by public donation and out of pocket by our volunteers.
