Dear Friends, Thank you so much for all your kind comments and good wishes. Im really overwhelmed and full of love for the many people in my life who have been so encouraging and supportive, including most especially the wonderful members of the Oratorio Singers of Charlotte. Its an exciting time for me for sure, if bittersweet. Several of you have asked, and though Im not an avid FB poster, I thought a little more detail might be helpful, beyond Tuesdays Observer article. 1. Regarding Ann Howard Jones, Dr. Jones recently announced her retirement, effective at the end of the current academic year. To help the School through a time of transition, I have been appointed Director of Choral Activities, ad interim. Assumedly, the University will begin a search once Dr. Joness retirement begins. For the moment, Im excited to spend the year with Dr. Jones celebrating the remarkable achievements and legacy she has given for so many of us. (BU Alums, be on the look out for special communications from me about ways you can be involved in honoring Dr. Jones. Im sure shed welcome a letter or a congratulatory note.) 2. Marsh Chapel remains my principal focus and my home base. We have tons of good stuff happening at Marsh, and I hope youll continue to tune in Sundays or come to one our concerts or Bach Experiences. 3. This moment for me is about the chance to enjoy one final season with my beautiful musical family in Charlotte. We have Brahms, Handel, Bernstein, and Haydn to urge us on. You are exceptional in every way, and I continue to be honored by you whether in Charlotte, Boston, or in the constant care of US Air! Much love, SAJ
