Dear Friends! Tomorrow is World Autism Day and the powers that be - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends! Tomorrow is World Autism Day and the powers that be are asking everyone to go Blue for the day to show support for a condition that affects absolutely thousands of families (The Spinnaker Tower is going blue tomorrow night in support). Lots of people are unaware exactly how autism plays such a major part in an individual and their familys life or assume that it is bad parenting This is a myth that needs to be squashed and one way to do it is to share awareness on what can at times be a very cruel condition. On the flip side it can also be the most rewarding sensation in the world to bring up and care for an autistic child and watch them grow. I have the honour of being a parent to such a child and whilst at times he has had me in tears of pain and unhappiness he is also the one that can make me cry the happiest of tears too.... He is the most loving, interesting and intelligent 6 year old I have ever met and I am so proud to have a Nathan in my life, if someone told me they could turn back the clock 6 years and change him so he was like other children do you know what .... Id tell them to go do one! Because he has taught me so much in his short life and he is absolutely perfect that way he is! So my point .... Could you please turn your profile picture to something blue for 24 hours, for me, for my Nathan and for every other family that has Autism as part of their life - just to make those that dont know about Autism aware and for those that have a family member with autism know that they are not alone...... Thanks xxxxxxxx
