Dear Friends and well-wishers , Project Sanctioned by State Planning Commission of Tamilnadu LEAF Society is extremely happy to share the news that, LEAF Society has been accorded with ‘ Administrative Sanction’ for ‘ Elimination of Open Defecation’ project under SBGF scheme of State Planning Commission of Tamilnadu. LEAF Society is one of the five organizations chosen by State Planning Commission to implement model project in Erumaipatty Block of Namakkal district. Based on the success, the project may be scaled up to new areas. State Planning Commission has sanctioned a grant for LEAF Society for three years and we need to create the demand & construct 15,000 Individual Toilets in Three years. LEAF Society will reach 15,000 families and will train at least 10,000 school children enrolled government schools. The women SHGs, Panchayat Level Federations, PRIs, Farmers clubs, Pudhuvazhvu groups will also be trained by LEAF Society. The Rural development department will provide grant under SBA to the tune of Rs. 15 crores and will also support for Rural Solid Waste management projects. LEAF Society will also need to coordinate various government departments like Health, Education, ICDS, Women Development Corporation, Pudhuvazhvu Scheme, TWAD Board, Revenue, PRIs and schoolteachers towards sanitation. We hope, this would be one of the remarkable project for LEAF Society, if we are able to manage the results positively.
