Dear Friends of Panorama Rock We are happy to report that we had a most enjoyable year. Who can complain when we had good rains, and for the first time in a few years, really good grazing ? . Thanks to our Team, we had very little hiccups, and we hope to build further on this years achievements in 2015. At the lodge, we upgraded room 5. For the rest of the chalets, the water pressure pump will be changed, and geysers will be replaced, to make your stay more comfortable. Our new clay pigeon machines arrived. The course will be build early next year. Anna, our kitchen help was promoted to assistant chef. She is making very good progress in her training as Sandris right hand on the culinary side. Frederick got married to Fransina, our other kitchen assistant. Our mini spa is quite busy and popular. Sandri s massages are unbeatable! The Kalahari product range is loved by our guests, especially the gift range. . Sandri wrote her hunting guide examination at the end of November. She also won the mountain bike race at Nina s farmers day. We are very proud of her. Charl started walking and keeps everybody busy. FC loves his brother and learned to shoot with his new air gun. He hardly misses. At the age if 5!! At the beginning of the year, Kudu rabis was a huge problem in the entire Namibia. We inoculated about 170 kudus from the helicopter. This saved the majority of our population, and we only had isolated cases of rabis. Gert built Roan and Sable Camps to ensure an optimal breeding environment, and management of these two rare species. Our annual Game count verified that our game management program, ensured a good balance of the species in the past year. We were honored that Martin Volmer and Konstatinau Taki chose our lodge to celebrate their birthdays with their friends and families. Panorama Rock takes pride that family groups of 2 and 3 generations , chose us to come hunting. To see grandfather, son and grandsons ( and sometimes mother) hunting together was a really special experiences. Opa Claas shot a gold medal Roan Bull at the age of ? Sadly, we had to say goodbye to a very courageous and dear friend Dr Heiner Kuhne, who came to us with his wife Ulrike. ?He lost a hell of a fight against cancer. He came to us as often as his strength and health allowed him too. Heiner loved hunting and he was an exceptional example to all of us. We learned from him that one will find a way to accomplish your dreams, even making the impossible, possible. We know he left a legacy behind, and that Ulrike can be proud to have had him as a partner. Baron had a close encounter with an Oryx, and spend quite some time at the Vet, before he was healthy enough again. We are happy to report that he is as fit as ever . Peanut ( the sheep) left the farm to join the herd on Gert s family farm . Peanut did not comply to Sandris garden rules or Marindas house rules, amongst all other reasons. He ate 20 of the 30 brotchen of the mens trips . He almost left them hungry! In May , Sonic, joined us as new member to the Jensen Family. He was Bergran s birthday present. He is a wired -haired dachshund, and wrapped all of us around his paw. Sören wrote matric, and we are very happy with his results. We had a surprise party on the farm for his 18th birthday. All the youngsters slept in the barn. They had a ball!, Sören will be going to Germany 2015 for a gap year , to assist him to plan his future. Bergran came third overall in the mountain bike league. He entered the mens section in the FIRST NATIONAL BANK classic, and came 9th. (The first 10 people got medals.) Bergran enjoys his inline hockey and got certificates for good sportsmanship, himself and his friend as best tandem players in the u/10 team. Furthermore he started to race his remote control car ( Summit). There he is one of the youngest racers taking part. Our traditional Panorama Rock men and woman weekends were great fun. Gunnar and Gert went to the Kalahari on a Springbuck hunt and took Sören ,Bergran and Rigo along. Marinda and Sandri (with Charl) went to Cape Town . They enjoyed the chinese sport, called “shopping. Gunnar celebrated an early Christmas , and went to Caprivi on a buffalo hunt, with Holger ( his cousin) . He shot the buffalo on the last morning, and missed his flight!
