Dear Human Family - Technology cannot and will not get us out of this mess. There is simply not enough oil left to transition to a technotopia for all 7+ billion of us that many business and political leaders promise, nor enough water to process it, nor would we want to burn it to extract the last of the rare earth minerals by blasting through mountains creating yet more catastrophic CO2 emissions as we manufacture said solar panels and wind farms, not to mention using the last of the soil to feed the people who will be trying to build it. More than anyone I want this to be possible, but I live in the real world and nature and physics isnt going to let us off the hook, nor will our children. In a heartbeat, I would give up every single thing I own (and nearly have already) to work towards the only solution. That is, take down industrial civilization as soon as possible, help fellow humans and non-humans as we all learn how to live within the earths limits. I love you enough to speak the truth. Will you love me enough to hear it? If you are willing to do the incredibly hard work necessary to scale down to a truly sustainable way of living that is inclusive, respectful of the earth and future generations, please watch and reach out to others who are also ready to take the next steps. peakprosperity/crashcourse Hang on, folks.
